Blue Pencil has recently partnered with the Guide Dogs UK to support blind or partially sighted people become mobile and independent. In choosing this charity to partner with, the firm was heavily influenced by the views of its employees, many of whom have dogs and were very enthusiastic about the prospect of being able to support such a worthwhile cause.
Blue Pencil is keen to develop this relationship and each time any of our Consultants makes a placement, we will be donating a percentage to Guide Dogs UK. Hopefully, it won't be too long before we will reach the target and be naming our own puppy!
To kick things off in style, volunteers from the Claverham and Clevedon Fundraising Group of the Guide Dogs Charity recently visited our Portishead offices along with Huw, a Guide Dog Puppy. The visit was so successful that there even seems to be a consensus amongst our employees around the possible name for a future Blue Pencil puppy- no prizes for guessing that it's "Bluey"!
We are delighted to be supporting Guide Dogs as it costs over £50,000 to support a Guide Dog from the birth of the pup to its retirement aged about 10.
The charity does not receive any Government funding for this service so without the commitment and support of employees in firms like Blue Pencil, individuals with sight impairments would not be able to benefit from Guide Dog assistance.
